JESUS NEBOT / Actor-Filmmaker

Award-winning Spanish actor and filmmaker JESUS NEBOT came to Hollywood three years ago, and since then, has worked non-stop in film, stage and TV.

He's appeared in ABC's hit series "NYPD BLUE," UPN's actioner"THE SENTINEL," Showtime's "ANGEL FROM THE SKY" and the forthcoming feature films "DEMENTIA" and "FINAL VOYAGE" with Ice-T.

On stage, he played the title role in Federico Garcia Lorca's "BLOOD WEDDING" at the Los Angeles Theatre Center.

The talented young actor is internationally known for his starring roles in the top- rated and award-winning television series "LA LOBA HERIDA" and "DIVINA OBSESION."

Indeed, "DIVINA OBSESION" was distributed by Warner Brothers International to 27 countries.

He is also recognized for his leading roles in seven theater productions and six feature films as well as numerous television commercials and guest appearances around the world.

Producing credits include his starring feature films "LITTLE HEART," "SOMEBODY'S HERO" and "OLE".

In 1999, Nebot founded ZOKALO ENTERTAINMENT, an independent production company based in Santa Monica, California.

Its first feature, "NO TURNING BACK," was the winner of the Audience Award during its world premiere at the Malaga Film Festival in Spain; the Grand Jury Prize at the Rhode Island International Film Festival; the Grand Jury Prize at the Big Bear International Film Festival; and the Grand Jury Prize at the Hope and Dreams International Film Festival.

Demonstrating the versatility of his talent, Jesus wrote, directed and produced the film. In "No Turning Back," Jesus also starred as the pursued immigrant forced to take desperate measures to protect his young daughter.

Among his many accolades, Jesus was recently named OUTSTANDING FILMMAKER OF THE YEAR and given the GOLDEN EAGLE AWARD by Nosotros, a non-profit organization created to improve the image of Latinos through the entertainment industry.

He also garnered The Southern California Motion Picture Council's JEANIE EMERALD STAR ANGEL AWARD and GOLDEN STAR HALO AWARD for his outstanding contribution to the entertainment industry.

He is a graduate of the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in Madrid and the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute in New York.

CHRIS SABLAN / Vice President of Production

Originally from Spain, Chris Sablan, Zokalo's Vice President of Production, graduated from the prestigious University of Southern California, where he studied both marketing and film.

Despite being only 20, he then produced, directed and wrote Sony's hit variety college sketch show Surfing Channels.

 

Subsequently, Chris was hired by Canal FOX and FOX Kids as a Creative Services Specialist, designing and writing cable guides for over 12 million subscribers.

He left FOX to join Codikow Films' development department working under the supervision of successful independent producer Stacy Codikow.

Sablan moved on to work for eight time Emmy Award Winner, Robert Dean, under his Vantage Point Productions banner, where he was heavily involved in the development and production of three documentaries for Discovery Communications.

 

Chris' development and production skills attracted the attention of award-winning actor/producer, Jesus Nebot, who offered him the post of Director of Development at Zokalo Entertainment.

At the age of 23, Chris wrote the story with Jesus Nebot, developed and produced the company's first feature, No Turning Back.

This film went on to become the winner of the Audience Award during its world premiere at the Malaga film Festival in Spain; the Grand Jury Prize at the Rhode Island International Film Festival; the Grand Jury Prize at the Big Bear International Film Festival; the Grand Jury Prize at the Hope and Dreams International Film Festival; and Outstanding Independent Motion Picture at the 2002 Alma Awards.

Since writing the story and producing the film, Chris has been awarded associate producer of the year by the Hollywood Chronicle and has been interviewed by the LA Times, Canal Plus, Oye Magazine and other news media.

In February of 2002, Chris was promoted to the position of Zokalo's Vice President of Production.

CINDY PEÑA / Creative Affairs Director

 

Cindy is of 3rd generation Tex/Mex (Texas-Mexican) decent. She was born in Hollywood, Calif. and has been living in Santa Monica for the past ten years.

She was the lead in "Barrio Tales", an independent film, and in another leading role in "Unseen", an independent feature which also starred Richard Hatch of "Battlestar Gallactica".

She begins work mid-June on another independent feature called "Last Mountain" starring Broadway/Film star Soon-Tek Oh, most recently of "Beverly Hills Ninja" and the father's voice in "Mulan".

Cindy's TV credits include "The Gregory Hines Show".

She also recently completed a Taco Bell commercial. She is proud to be studying currently at The Playwrights Kitchen Ensemble.

She enjoys Golfing, Bike Riding and Rollerblading.
